Mission & History
CHAMPIONS utilizes innovative programming in outdoor education, adventure retreats, after school enrichment, and physical education to increase self-confidence, communication skills, teamwork, and community. We focus on effort rather than ability, enjoyment rather than winning, as a means of elevating the Champion inside us all.
History
CHAMPIONS: Adventure, After School and Sports Programs was formed in May, 2001, under the name GOOD SPORTS PLUS. It was the dream of two avid athletes and outdoorsmen who saw the lack of quality programs in Los Angeles as an opportunity to pursue a profession that was a passion. Gary Lipsky and Brad Lupien merged their diverse professional backgrounds into a strong partnership and a firm mission statement.
Currently, CHAMPIONS works with over 150 organizations. Our clients and their needs are as diverse as the programs we offer. We are pleased to work with many private, public, and charter schools, churches and synagogues, as well as several municipal Recreation and Parks Departments and Unified School Districts. CHAMPIONS main headquarters is in Los Angeles but has added an office in Boston due to the overwhelming demand for their services in the Northeast. We work with clients throughout California, Massachusetts, New Hampshire and beyond.
CHAMPIONS is proud of the fact that we meet the challenges that each school and program offers. Whatever your needs or expectations for a program, CHAMPIONS is the perfect partner. We make Champions, one person and one program at a time.

During the mountain biking, rock climbing, kayaking, horse back riding, and other trips, the staff of CHAMPIONS not only coordinated the basics all of the activities, but took time to talk to the students about team work, fair play, and challenging oneself to do that which was thought to be impossible. Our students definitely grew out of their experiences and were able to apply a lot of the lessons learned to the classroom and their life beyond.
CHAMPIONS then went to plan multi-day overnight trips for us to Yosemite National Park and San Francisco. These trips were an extension of the single day events and contained many of the same lessons. The staff of Champions were always professional and courteous. Each trip went off without a hitch with parents, students, and staff all raving about the experiences.
